I've given up trying to work out why some things work and some don't. The amount of time I have wasted trying to work out why Facebook sometimes comes up with some posts and not others and then displays the others and not the originals......very frustrating.

Generally because they try to be too clever, deciding what you want (or worse still enforcing it) because that is what most would want to happen. As far as I can see, Facebook postings and their visibility obey no normally accepted human logic.
