Time to put my cards on the table.

Well I've decided and made up my mind.

I've spoken to a friend on the phone that does a lot with Motorsport in Angelsey.
It was a long chat and I'll get straight to the point.

Asks me to go outside and look at my car, thinking to myself what is he on about, again he said the same thing.
Well I did go out side as he said and he asked to look at the car and look all around it, interior engine everything.

To start off with I didn't quite get what he ment, but I relised after what he was trying to do.
He wanted me to look at it and think, do i really want to race my OWN car.
The work I've done the parts I've replaced.

The graphics that make the car mine sort of thing, plus can't forget walnut trim and steering wheel.
No i couldn't, its my car and I wouldn't want it to be damaged or scrapped.

I still want to give it a shot, but I'll buy other CDTI for cheap as chips, that's failed an MOT then use that one.
If I can't make it in July, well there's always next year.

I think you would be much much much better off buying a car already prepared for racing.
the MGCC Trophy series for example has classes including virtually road standard spec. What is your race experience?? Do you already have a licence?? What is your track experience??

It's a dangerous place to be when starting out with no experience, for you, but more so for all the others out on track. Maybe a good idea to do some MGs On Track track days with a proper instructor if you haven't already done so.

why not come up to MG Live in June at Silvestone, it's the MGCC annual event, and it's a race weekend, with many ZRs and some ZS competing in different race category's. Have a chat with some of the race guys and girls (but not just before or after practice / qualy / race/ scrutineering etc. I am sure that they will have time for you. Use it as an information gathering and learning excercise. Several from MGCC racing have gone on to bigger race series ( read much bigger budgets) including BTCC http://www.mgcc.co.uk/trophy/ex-trophy-stars/


Start small all and slowly and grow as your ability and budget allows

just my advice, as a frustrated racer myself (lacking both talent and budget) so I have marshalled and now photograph it instead (for MG Motor UK, MGCC and TSCC)

even just oust marshalling you will be in a position to learn a lot

Class D is for race prepared ZR 160 road cars that can be built for around £3,000, possibly the cheapest entry level tin top able to race on all the UK’s top circuits.

Do you know what your right very right and the 260 members as well.

The only experience I have is driving a Rover 25 on the track which I did do a lot of work on.
Did about 3 track days, nothing competitive and did have sought of a lesson, when Brain was still around with his Jag XJ6.
That's really and I don't have a racing licences at all.

I'd like to race in an MG brand car, or a Ford split loyalty's there.

Sounds like something I can focus on.

Regards to marshalling how do Get into that. ?

Ref the Marshalling, where is you local circuit or even hill climb location?
Are you prepared to travel? I believe the MGCC has some of its own marshals that travel to the MGCC races
have a look on the circuit websites, there's often a marshals link and I am sure that Marshalls are never turned away.

afterall, no Marshalls = No Motorsport event.

mate of mine and his wife are Marshalls at Castle Combe, and I believe as you gain experience you get the opportunity to Marshall at bigger and bigger events. As a result they have done F1, BTCC and ihre Indy500

Training will be given.

Or Andy my dad and I get a ZT V8 and supercharge it.

Showed my old man a video of a Superchraged ZT in action, lets say he looked very impressed.
Do like the sporty look of the MG6.
