mmmmmh. I would certainly suspect the fluid you used. How did they change it? Drop the pan as they should? How many litres did they charge you for?
The box takes 12l. from dry, max 8l wet (but normally you are lucky to get more than 6 or 7 out). Mercon-V really is the oil to use. That means a lot of Mercon-V has been retained, mostly in the torque convertor, and mixed with your stuff.
Rather than look for a Mustang specialist for your Rover 75 V8, why not go to a Rover 75 V8 /ZT-260 specialist; seems logical to me?
