I don't think anyone is carping on, just pointing out that this seems a very high price (compared with other recent sales, even for very low mileage cars).

If everyone is buying and selling something around a certain price and I pay a lot more than everyone else, does that mean I appreciate the true value of it and have done a very astute and sensible deal? I would argue precisely the opposite...

Mike - where did you get this information? Not saying your wrong, just wondering if it's 100% fact.

I was looking at buying the car yesterday and managed to negotiate the dealer down from the 15K asking price to 12k, however I was looking for him to shave the price a bit more and went back to him at lunchtime today, but he had sold it this morning, so my guess is that he got between 12 and 15k

Ah OK, I thought from the original post, it had sold for £20K.

£12K'ish doesn't sound too far out for that model/condition.

    Confessional.

I bought it (sorry Mike! - I had no idea anyone else on here was interested) and the plan is to have a little something added by Dreadnought.

Which means that my immaculate 18K mile Mk1 260SE Saloon will go up for sale in a few weeks time (yes Tim, I know that I said I'd be keeping it ).

Did you manage to resolve the road tax issue?

I am anticipating a battle with DVLA - you mean paying 2011 rates for a 2004-plated car Mike?
