thats a tough question as you will always upset some members as colour is always a personal thing

anyway from my experience of selling 35-40 of these since 2006 and without trying to upset anyone or causing friction i would say
in no particular order the top three would have to be :

    X Power Grey
    Star Silver
    Black

maybe this sounds boring but the car looks good in these 3 colours

then you are into blues (not mirage), greens etc

then things like bright red (flame) is better than firefrost red metallic

from experience the solid, metallic, pearl, kinetic and supertallics paints are okay but the flip paints ( chromactive) are not desireable as they are a nightmare to paint so people are cautious of buying one just incase some numpty scrapes it !!

this is just a view point from my experience delaing with many people buying, selling and searching for a ZT 260

    regards

    James

Likewise not wanting to upset anyone, but are these three colours not also the most COMMON ?

Whilst you clearly have a point re the Flippers, and fear of repainting I would assume they also attract the slightly more extrovert and those with a little more 'disposable'....

its nothing to do with disposable ....., its that they are difficult to paint and match up as most cars would be painted under comp ins. cover so the cost is irrelevant. its also paint colour of the car itself, the MG 260 is more a wolf in S/C and not really a brash "look at me car", so the subtle or oridinary colours suit the nature of the car and most owners.

a TVR in flip paint go hand in hand but the flip paints on the 260 generally dont suit the cars subtlety and the general type of 260 owner/buyer, but there are a few owners/buyers who do like garish paint etc - but probably only 5 %

so each to his or hers own and its all down to personal taste.

but as the market for 260's is small and selective and if you have one in flip paint you have a very very small market to sell to - 5% of a limited small market. also if someone wants a flip paint, they smetimes only want one colour and no other flip colour so that can make it very difficult to find a buyer. if you are buying it to keep for ever then it doesnt really matter about resale

this is just general across the board advice from someone who has dealt in buying and selling nearly 40 260's over a 3 year period and is not one of personal preference.

i am sure you all like your own cars for various reasons

    enjoy

This really does sound a bit desperate!

    For COMMON read POPULAR.

    Flip paint is chavvy........end of.

If nothing else this thread has shown how the prices are all over the place at the moment.

From £5500 to £9900 for the same age same spec car with similar mileage.

Ahh that throws my question of if they painted a load of them together out the window! Personally, i wasnt bothered about the colour, never have of a second hand car. Unless its bright pink

I think some of the colours dont look their best in a photograph. I dont think mine does in some lights, but in the flesh its totally different

I'm a big fan of Mirage. I nearly spec'd my TF160 in that colour.

I've seen TF, ZR, ZS180 and 260 in the colour and, to me, they all look good in Mirage
