That's good then.And I don't know if you're on a classic car policy with Peter Best like a lot of us but they used to have no excess on the windows and I believe they probably still do.
Some years ago I had a rear screen shatter on my SD1 for no apparent reason while I was driving along.
Im with Lancaster Insurance and they have said £50 excess. Thanks for the suggestions btw.
Am I right in saying the radio and TV aerial (although redundant) are all part of the rear windscreen. Do they need to fit the exact same one. Obviously a standard 75 window would fit but do the insurers need the original part?
CQB000240 is without tv aerial and CQB000260 is with, which is the part suggested above anyway so yeah.

Friday the 5/10 i finally got the window replaced. My insurer brought out two replacements originally, the first looked like it had been rubbed down with a wire brush with half of the filament missing and the second was missing a connector. There are three connections on the off side - and the top one was missing. They took it away thinking it was the GPS connecter that was missing. My insurer basically told me they couldn't source a replacement after the two attempts and told me to find one.... lol. Anyway Autoglass had a brand new one in stock. They said it had all of the connectors including GPS and TV. When they brought it it was missing the exact same connector on the offside. I asked them to fit it anyway as I was getting sick of driving around with tape as a back window and the window was immaculate.
Ive found the radio and satnav work fine. So I assume the missing connecter is the TV?
Either way im just glad the car is almost complete again

I don't understand the flat spin you guys get yourself into at times.
If you are afraid that he insurance company will scrap it, repair and pay out of your own pocket.
As for rear screens, they are most likely the easiest screen to get and usually they have no damage.
If these things worry you, wait a few years, and you will have heart palpitations 24/7.
The V8 will be fairly easy to keep on the road, provided you have a bit of technical knowledge or know of someone who has.
I should know, I drove Rovers for 25 years here while there was no representation!

The up date reports from Dom on the R75 project car confirms what these insurance pirates do when a car goes to a 'holding pen'. Things go missing, the body work gets damaged and the scrotes have total lack of respect for a special car. The trick is to make sure the car is sent back to your own property or some where you can control.
