    Rear Differential
    There are only three oils available in the UK that have full sign-off for the unit. These are:-
    Mobil SHC80W140 id
    Castrol SAF-XJ 80W-140
    Morris Lubricants Lodexol XFS 80W-140.

    Capacity 1.6l


    There are two manuals you can get to help. A Rover75/ZT one, and a Mustang one, for the engine.
    (The diff is not in either)

    Oil I use is Castrol SAF-XJ (I think they may have just re-named it, but Google it...). Get 2 x 1 litre bottles to make the job easier to squeeze it in.

    The filler plug is the large silver bolt facing you on the back of the diff. The metal subframe is shaped so that you can just about get a thin-walled socket on. I used an old box spanner. Remove and fill up to level with bottom of the hole.

    If you don't know when the oil was last changed, you may as well drain it (remove the smalll bolt on the bottom of the diff casing) and re-fill with new, as the factory "running oil" is supposed to be changed from new.

    Not (yet) had any issues with leaks myself, but now and again it gets mentioned. Good luck.
