    Unhappy Engine Running Lean Issue

Has any body got any sugesstions how to fix a fault which occures when my 260 gets hot when stuck in standing traffic. It starts miss firing and the engine management fault light has come on. The fault reads the engine is running lean on the left bank.

It is a hot under bonnet situation. The fuel rail gets overheated and clears when cool fuel is pumped through. TADTS.

I think that must be why I rev the engine in traffic, A) to tell people I am there. 2) keep the fuel rail cool due to fuel passing through.

Only once had the problem in 5 years, 'twas at Brooklins last Sunday. Cleared itself after a minute.

If you have the carpet under the bonnet, Remove it.

Or maybe we should built in a small hydraulic/electric thingy that opens the bonnet 10-20 centimeters when stuck in traffic jams.
There is no substitute for cubic inches!

My mate showed me his Escort RS, it has rear lifters (solid) to let the hot air out.

    Default Engine Running Lean Issue

Thanks for the replies they makes me feel a bit better now. Im going to take the carpet off from under the bonnet first of all, I have just had a new compressor fitted to the aircon which which was top of my to do list for this spring, £900 ouch!
I like the sound of the vents, any suggestions on type and positioning would be useful. I have also just had four wheel alignment done at Tanvic in Worksop which has now centred the steering wheel at last.
New rear brake pads went on yesterday fitted by Mark of Toy Box Developments after a week and two attempts to source pads and fit them. Still to do is handbrake cable and discs.

Mine has doe this a couple of times this year when hot and in traffic, soon cleared when on the move, however it hasn't done it before for 3 years so could it be a dodgy plug or coil suffering when hot ?
