    On the tax issue just remember that the £200 or so difference is marginal if you do anywhere near average mileage. Its only going to get you an additional two tank fills a year so I would not let that put me off a particular car.

    Exactly - work out a car's total running costs for 5 years and as mister bountyfull said, £1000 will seem pretty marginal
