Hi, further testing has lead me to believe it?s the alternator that?s shot!!

Battery is sitting at a reasonable level when left for some time now!

However once car is running the voltage is dropping off and at around 11 volts the low battery light comes on and at 10 volts the car cuts out !!!

I tested with volt metre and when revving the voltage still didn?t go up (this is wrong isn't it?)

thanks for all your input on this.

    Pete

Could this be the possible reason for the drain if its earthling out ?

    Pete,

Just had my alternator replaced. I thought it was the battery at first as it was five years old and I had been recently thinking how well the battery was doing. Thus, the battery was uppermost in my mind. A new battery did not solve the problem - as that was not the problem.

Car elec. company diagnosed an intermittent (in over 35 years motoring it has always been an "intermittent" problem) in the alternators electronic pack. New alternator solved it. Local tyre place did the swap. The kit is marked FoMoCo.

Question: How do you get into a a ZT-260 when the battery is totally flat and cannot even work the door locks.

    Answer: With great difficulty :-(

    regards,

It is the fuse box in the engine, on the right, at the front.
