    Default stage 3

    Hi Lindon
You say yours is a stage 1 , this engine is a stage 3 , I have been told it has a billit crank rods and 7.5;1 compression pistons it also comes with a 100% bigger chargecooler. He has said 540hp does this sound right .On the web alli find is the 385 spec but stage 3 seems to be more 3v or full monty 32v s/c engines? I must admit 385 is still good power so if its only that for the price its still a cheap upgrade. I WORK NIGHTS!! When i was on my way home this morning i poped in to my local factory centre,, and had a play ,, need a passanger door wiper lol lv the lsd goes sideways well. Bring back the days of capris and the old vitesse. When i was a we nip myself and mates used to have mk1 and 2 escorts, We used the same factory cen and a practice track but we used to buy diesel and chuck it on the road .This was great fun It was like driving a 300hp car..at 17. Now i see the error of my ways honest....

If this lump does have 500+ bhp you need to look seriously at an alternative gear box or accept you may well break the standard one eventually, which is a pita because it is quite a piece of work to replace it.

Personally I really would like to ditch the standard box and fit a six speed sequential unit.

I saw one being operated by steering wheel paddles a while ago with the gear lever moving in unison on its own that looked rather nifty!

    Default Roush Supercharger

    Hi All,

I spoke with Mr Riley this morning and have shown an interest in the Roush Supercharger he has for sale, hes going to keep it for me and I will have a look at it on Fri to see if the kits complete. He has also said he will fit it for me also (20 Hrs work).
He said he was fitting an engine on Fri and asked me to bring mine down as well to fit the blower. I think at the moment I will buy it if complete and keep hold of it until I have extra funds to fit it. I may, depending on how Dave gets on get him to fit and remap it. But if anyone knows of someone who could fit & re-map the Roush it would give me other options.

    Any comments welcome,

    Regards

    Nigel

Having driven several paddle shift cars, I've yet to find one that's any good, took a DB9 on track and the delay on the gearchange was disconcerting if not dangerous

I think the paddle shift 260 would probably of been quicker on the move than the current manual box ??

tried it on '59 Mini (no synchro on first), a 66 Vitesse (no synchro on first - so did a later overdrive gearbox conversion) and tractors. Failed double decllutching on all occasions!!

    Default friday fitting

    Hi Nigel
I will be there for just after 4pm friday i would like to get the front stripped rad out and maybe a few other bits so on sat we can get the motor in. I have seen the kit he has it looks all there. The only thing is make sure about the pully size as the amount of boost its set for as too mutch will pink and kill your engine. I am no expert but i belive 6psi is about as mutch as safe on a std compresion engine. Best to be safe and ask. It looks as new condition. I would have thought it would not be hard to fit yourself. After book it in to a rr to tune it . Trailer it there and leave it to an expert.

    might see you friday
