Worth a look as remanufacture is proving tough

    Default Throttle cables

I was asked about these some time ago and suggested that after having looked at a new unit that we get our new handbrake cable supplier to help out.

In fact at my last visit to their factory I was shown the unit which is very complicated and could not be manufactured by them without huge tooling costs being involved. I suggested that we simply set up a refurbishment service as they can remove the old cable and rebuild the unit with a new one. Far cheaper and just as effective. If we could source a few more duff cables then a small buffer stock could be created so that all one had to do was to exchange cables - time - well as long as it takes to mail things to and from!

    Has anyone furthered this suggestion????

GReat Idea! I have kept one old one here, so count that in.

Have seen a few cars now only getting 3/4 throttle with the pedal to the metal, but getting notchy when cold is more common - including my car.

I'm on it - on the list for next week, moving house is slowing my ability to progress it as quickly as I'd like

Does anyone have experience of making their own cables for other uses? I had wondered about the possibility of a DIY refurb. The used cable has all the fittings attached, if you could source a replacement cable and had the means to create the end pieces it may not be too difficult to do.

In the immortal words "How hard can it be"!!
