Ok well maybe wanted might be a better way of putting it,

Circumstances dictate that we sell the house, that means I may be 40 miles away from work, don't want to use the 260 for that every day, so need a cheap runabout - probably an oil burner

Any suggestions

Toyota Corolla diesel. May be as boring as hell to drive but it'll keep going & going & going.............
Good economy also. My old bucket "S" plate is on 157,000, banging it's big ends about when hot, but still returns 42mpg on short journeys.
