The thought of a carbon fibre undertray sounds great but it may be cheaper to go for the same/similar type to that already fitted to [most] of our cars.

If cost reasonable, then Carbon Fibre

Just don't ask me what's a reasonable price

I have made a mould and made one for myself out of black resin and glass. I never had the chance to fit it due to a customer being in great need. It is a lot of work and this makes it expensive. To make it in carbon would cost about £80 just for the carbon you would also need some kind of suction bag to get a good finish hence the reason I used glass. Might try to lay up a carbon one when I get the time but dont think that it would be cost effective.

Guess that points to the first action should be to re-approach the original manufacturer - thanks Brian

Glassfibe would be a good route if enough people were interested.

The only advantage of Carbon would be a weight saving.
With 260/400 bhp only viable on a Race Car to gain 100th of a sec.

I have done a lot of Glass work and as Brian says time consuming.

If any one is in great need, I have a spare one. (260s members only)

If my memory serves correctly (doubtful) the undertray from a 1.8T will fit but it doesn't go under the engine, just the front part. But if you were in desperate need it might do.

I think a carbon fibre one would work out very expensive. To get a similar thickness to what we have now you'd be looking at about 6 layers. Although 3 layers would give enough strength. You could also use a carbon fibre/glass layering or even a kevlar carbon layering, but again costs would determine that. The most cost effective would be the carbon glass fibre sandwich but is looked upon as cheating and cheap

    Default Original Manufacturer

I put you on to him originally in Manchester area

He has been selling fixings on eBay recently so I doubt that he is too worried about new owners and relationships

Give him another go but dont waste his time asking for one undertray

He is a manufacturer not an enthusiast
