Any views on genuine vs after market oil filters?

Had a mazda 626 once and use of non genuine filters had noticable negative effect on time for oil light to go out on start up

the V8 does have an anti siphon oil reserve in the internals that supply top end oil immediately on start up , but for the difference in price I would always go for either an X part , or motorcraft oil filter, and unless I knew they were genuine, not buy off ebay.
The lubrication and cooling systems are the heart of the car, and need looking after.

That's the issue I had with the 626 - hence always used genuine - replaced the non gen one I used once after 10 miles!

    Thanks!

It is important to use the correct filter the wrong filter may fit but it will allow the oil to drain back if the car sits for a while.
