Anybody know what other 5 year old V8 saloon / estates can be bought for 7 grand?

Money well spent i'd say, and bar yet more stealth taxation, should not fall in value any further.

I've driven many rear drive cars and a few v8's included, and have never felt so confident to push on through bends, and mine didn't have traction control. Very solidly bolted together, sublime handling.

An S6 would show it a clean pair of heals on any road, but is 6k going to buy you one from this millenium?

The 540 German Cortina, smooth as silk to drive, zero fun

Personally, I would be prepared to pay over 6 for the right car with impeccable history that hasn't been used as a shopping trolley.

If 6 is the limit you can forget low mileage SEs

I seem to have rocked the boat with my view on what I value the ZT 260 at.

As many have said, yes others have agreed with what I said - a 260 is only worth WHAT A BUYER IS PREPARED TO PAY - in this case, the buyer is me, and I am prepared to pay £6k.

It doesn't matter how much members THINK these cars are worth, unless of course the members are actually a serious buyer like myself.

At the end of the day I am not holding a gun to a sellers head, they have a choice of my cash right now, or wait for another buyer to appear whenever that may be.

Oh, food for thought..... (and YES I am looking into it, but keeping an open mind if others crop up)

You are correct and if you stick to your guns there is every possibility you will get a good one for 6k. I was only pointing out what I believe to be the case. I look forward to further posts. When I was looking I was horrified at the condition some of these cars were in and at that time people were holding out for 10k.

    Good luck

    Steve.

Hmmm.. by the looks of it this one is owned by 'travelling folk' so make sure the V5 matches up before you part with readies

    Good price though....

Hmmmm........hmmmmm. Strange aerial, no V8 wing badge(s), drivers seat looks chewed (but may be the photo). Not one I would travel for without a lot more info.

Strange question, but what colour are the instrument dials lit on the 260?

    Thanks.

Leaning toward the Mk1, like the front end styling, more "MG like" in my eyes.

Off to Devon next week, may take the trailer just incase anything gets listed on Ebay/Pistonheads.Autotrader (Most probably just to wind up the Mrs!)
