hand brake

Hi

I have just purchased a MG ZT 260 and when i got the car the handbrake would not hold, i have adjusted the handbrake cables and rear pads, However the handbrake still will not hold on hills and there is a lot of travel in the lever itself.

please can you help

Welcome along and congratulations on your purchase, regarding the hand brake did you adjust the shoes through the hole in the drum with the handbrake nearly all the way down ? thats what I did and its fine
