    Default Gearbox Blanket

    Hi Folks,

The gearbox blanket on my MK1 260 is a bit worse for wear. The bottom of the blanket is shredded and hanging down.

What are my options? Can I:

Cut off the 'dangling' ends and leave the rest?

    Remove it completely?

    Replace it?

My preference would be to replace it however I'm not willing to do a 'drop the engine/gearbox out of the car stunt' but if it's doable where would I be able to get a replacement from?

If on the other hand I removed it what would be the result?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hello Simon

There is another post similar to yours so I was going to combine then noticed you have not returned your questionnaire. This means you are only viewing the public part of the forum.

The answer is that you can cut the loose part off. The blanket is in part for sound deadening. Discussion on whether to put hot bands onto the exhaust which could be an option.
