The Rover 75V8, VIN #682, 'sold provisionally' for £5,000 (Low estimate was £7,500, so most probably not actually 'sold', therefore)

Just goes to show the state of the market at the moment. I know of some great Classics that are for sale that a few months ago would have been snapped up. A dealer I know has some stock that he knows he is going to loose a lot of money on.

Its just the way it is. Not many people have got the time/patience in life to dedicate so many hours to fettling, sourcing parts, fixing things, etc.
I can for sure say I've had it, and will be done with it all.

Bit harsh, Ross? My car has 350k kms on the clock, and I still feel happy to jump in the car and drive 1000 miles up and down to PoL, carrying the reserve key as the only spare. Deadly reliable car which has only needed an intake and an airco pump in 5 years of ownership (shockers were by choice). Not only reliable, but cheap too. Apparently she's been a 'daily drive' for all 15 years of her life.

OK, always "oils-and-filters" services done on time, or early, and in my ownership, the big service done by Austin's in Burton-on-Trent. All helps, I guess

Maybe I am very lucky and/or you are very unlucky.

I watched the auction and sensibly didn't enable the bidding button. Lots of interesting stuff including, in my opinion, the Contemporary. Bearing in mind the lack of public awareness of the v8 I thought bidding might go to around £6500. However on achieving £5000 it just stopped. No internet hustle at all.

Amazing! 350k? My newly-acquired ZTT 260 has only 66k on the clock. It looks as if I have many miles/km of happy motoring ahead!

Welcome along Andrew. You need to get your questionnaire back to Tim to get full access to the forum and a wealth of information. What are the last three digits of your VIN?
