Default Lock stock & two broken barrels

Hi all. My original remote key fell apart earlier this year, so I dug out the second and have been using that, but now that one has stopped locking the car, (unlock works ok)

Just sh@t myself at Rimmer's price for new ones, so I thought I'd ask on here if anyone knows of any cheaper, reliable alternative sources?

    Thanks

    Neil

Can't you get one of these and swap over the blade and internals. I know your lock has stopped working but is that a mechanical problem or electronic? Maybe use the internals from your original if they still worked before the key fell apart.

This is going to be contentious but Marinabrian on the OC is a genius with repairing keys

i had a similiar problem when my cover got holed . i bought one off eBay as Nich shows, for a few pounds together with the micro switches that are used, swopped over the blade , p.c.b. board and chip and all is working, my only reservation is they are not as well made as the originals resulting in you having to press very hard on the buttons operate, but will get you out of a hole. You may consider getting a spare key or keys from a scrap or write off which you could use as a donner for your internals, otherwise it will cost quite a bit to replace with new.

I suppose even he could manage to swap the internals from the old key to a new one without too many stupid, puerile comments. After all there's nothing elitist about a key is there? I suspect he will be able to find something though.

Bought a pair of these over a year ago. First one still in use and operates fine.

Thanks Nich. It's not the lock that's the problem - the remote won't unlock, although it still locks the car, so I guess there's an internal issue. Neil
