    Hi, I also suffered with the inability to turn the heater off and last weekend fitted the black olive valve that came with the car (14 months ago!). The old unit was in a sorry state and with the valve driven closed, I could still blow through the port that connects to the heater.
    I can confirm that the new valve is simple to install, the top tip from me would be to invest in a wiper arm puller available cheaply from Ebay. The valve works a treat with no more unwanted hot air. I think you?ll always get very slightly warmed air as the pipe run from the bulkhead to the valve and back may have some heating effect?
