    Default Newbie - No 209

    Morning,

Counting down the days now.....until i pick up No 209, a Monogram Typhoon Saloon.

Only taken me 9 years to finally jump out of the shadows and buy a 260 - and it's a Mk1, which i prefer the look of, and an SE with a sunroof!

I'll now have owned one of each of the Zed cars, albeit this one is of course a little more special!

Question please - are there any specific recommendations for insurance?

    Thanks Ian

Welcome along Ian. When you take delivery get your questionnaire back to Tim to get full access to the site, lots of info on insurance.

Generally speaking, a lot of members are quite keen on Peter Best Classic Car, agreed value, limited mileage. Some of us aren't quite so sophisticated and use 'ordinary' insurance, depends on age, location and experience but anything between £250 and £450 is acceptable. Shop around but depends a lot on personal circumstances and postcode.

If you put your location in your profile it can help others to know where you are located to offer help etc.

    Hi Ian,

You should have got it when you first joined up but as that was nearly nine years ago it's probably not to hand............

Send Tim a PM and ask him for a new one.

Nice to see another one in Surrey.

    Welcome

+1 on Peter Best, only downside is that to get on here you should be an MGOC member, but to get the best rate from Peter Best, you need to be an MGCC member. Personally i am a member of both Clubs (& get different things from each), but it can be expensive & with forums & social media these days i can see why people may not want to pay 2 lots of subscriptions for stuff that in a lot of cases is available on the web for free. Still, cheaper insurance from Peter Best is a tangible benefit (mine cost £106.00 this year with them, limited mileage, Classic policy).

Worth trying Lancaster too, they are associated with the MGOC and also do member discounts, my experience with them though is that even with the discount, they tend to be more expensive than PB.
