What an odd response. If he didn't know it was rare when he put it up for sale, then why did he think he could get £20k for it when the reserve was set? The tone of his response is rather condescending I thought. Did the VIN number get recorded?

Yes, I didn't think it was a polite tone either. I've always been the same - I can't buy a car off someone I don't like ...... stupid i know!

I had quite a long chat with the owner, he told me the reserve was £17,000.
