    Default #323, Additional Information

Additional to this post https://www.two-sixties.co.uk/mgoc26...386#post181386 some more information:

#323 has just been serviced at Austin Garages, and passed its MOT earlier this week. It had new front shocks last year, a complete underbody treatment from PCM in Cheltenham in 2015, four new tyres in June last year, and has been garaged for most of the 11 years I have had it. I am really sad to be selling it but I am soon to start a new job which involves a lot of miles, and it makes no sense to put so many miles on it when so far it has so few. Please PM me if you would like more information.

Default Additional: VIN #801 (Nuenen, Holland)

    Additional information, viewed 22/03/2018:
2005 MG ZT 260, LHD, XPG, 114,287km, VIN #801 (Nuenen, Holland).
    See Complete List of 260s FOR-SALE: https://www.two-sixties.co.uk/mgoc26...597#post180597

Imported into Holland from Belgium in late 2010. Garaged since Autumn 2015.
The vehicle is being sold "for a client". The salesman says the client is thinking about Euro 19,000. Sounded unconvincing (/unconvinced).

The car has had right rear corner damage, clearly visible from within the boot, sufficient to break the rear window glass, which has been replaced. The damage has been repaired to a reasonable standard as far as that can be judged by eye. The whole car has been re-sprayed (why ?) Viewed in the showroom, not a bad spray job, say, 8/10. Salesman offered his opinion that it didn't look too brilliant in the sunlight!

Heavy leakage from differential (front oil seal?).
Ill-fitting LH exhaust back-box and rear bumper.
The car was not driven (disconnected battery).

On the plus side, little or no rust formation on struts, rear shocks, sub-frame, springs etc. Tidy interior, wheels. No unusual wear/scoring on front or rear brake-disks.

(Believed to be #795, WG54UBU, Ian W's old car sold by him in March 2017, now on 126,000 mi.).

Although not a fan of the manual gearbox (I would prefer a 75 tourer if they weren't as rare as hen's teeth) following the price drop I was musing about a visit. Now it's returned to its original, unsold, price. Is the vendor psychic? Or has my SWMBO told him to discourage me. Anyhow, does anyone have information about the car?

If it is ian w 's old car (as I believe it is), you could go over to his profile, select 'Find latest posts' from the menu on the left and start reading backwards. Quite some info there.

If you look here https://www.two-sixties.co.uk/mgoc26...-for-sale-soon you can see that the asking price was £8K almost exactly a year ago when it sold, and does not appear to have done any mileage to speak of since. About the distance it has moved geographically. No mention of either the 45 mph noise/vibration or paintwork having been fixed, although either or both may have been attended to, of course.

This car has been for sale for a few weeks now, I was given the information before it it was actually advertised and had a chat with the owner who asked me what a decent valuation would be.
It is Firefrost red, and was the only ZT-T 260 ever imported in France by the French subsidiary (and for that matter, one that was never sold to an end-customer). Was used as press/demo car and registered to MGR France. It's the car that was heavily pictured, alongside a Starlight silver saloon, in the French MGR press kit for the 260s (pictures are available here in the gallery). Suffered an engine failure at 12,000 kms when being demoed, the driver shifted from 5th to 3rd while driving on the subway. Has brand new engine/transmission fitted afterwards. Was sold to a former MGR France director when MGR collapsed, who sold it a year later to the current owner, a friend of his.
Bodywork is not perfect, on the rear tailgate for instance which has a bit of damage to the lower, bumper area finisher. The gear gaiter is also weird-looking as it doesn't look anything like what it should. I suspect it got broken up when they did the engine/transmission change and created one of their own out of plywood as they couldn't source an original one.
The satnav drive suffered from water leaks and has been removed. I guess all Tourers do, mine has identical leaks...

Additional information (from Facebook) in connection with pending sale of #211 (Member Stan315, Martin Adams):

    "
I've decided to let #211 go to a new home while I enjoy driving her I struggle when it comes to parking and it's becoming a problem I've spent a lot of money and time getting her to the condition she is in now ,with refurbished wheels, re upholstered seats new steering wheel and gear knob and lots more the engine has been detailed and new belts an radiators fitted. Originally destined to be a biomorphic mk1 she was commissioned as a press car and given a mk2 face lift with shot silk paint and oyster alcantara also cruise control is fitted. Later in time around 60000 miles a signature Roush stage 3 s/c engine was fitted and later still a prinns lpg system so that's a brief history. I'm looking for offers around £16000 . FB Message me, Martin Adams, for more.
