Try this link Nick, post number 5 from October last year.

New fan fitted but fan runs at high speed all of the time. I spoke to Jules who could only suggest that the gateway ECU was at fault which still seems to me to be a bit drastic, no other suggestions. PeterV8 had the same problem but he changed the wiring of the relays and managed to solve the problem, a 'fix' which Jules is now providing with his instructions. The instructions themselves are a bit generic (some do, some don't) and although contain details of the 260 fitting, are not very specific. I am still waiting to sort the problem with an electrician, hopefully some time this month.

Jules offers a great service in supplying hard to source parts at a reasonable price but I haven't experienced a very good after sales service.

    Hi Guys
Apologies - my ZT has been on the hoist at work for far too long with this problem, but I have a mired of other problems to sort out and "forgot" to come back to the thread. (a utility fell off a hoist last week - not a good sight - no-one injured, thankfully!).
Anyway, my electrician says he will give the repair a go, but seriously requires a wiring diagram to know where to start his trace... Another electrician up the road won't even entertain the thought of looking for the fault!

The new fan with gold resistor has been fitted but we don't have a power source - the previous fan was deemed to be faulty but was probably perfect - just that the power to it had failed and we "assumed" that the fan was at fault.
Hence the need for a wiring diagram to locate the correct power source.
Hope this helps? Did the original workshop manual have a wiring diagram in it? I didn't get such a manual with the car, if one actually exists...
