Thanks a million!
To me they look exactly the same taking into account the slight curve of the wire section in your pics. I was pulling the whole thing tight against the tape to measure.
Gosh it's nice to see clean engine oil again, the two diesels I've owned look black almost immediately after an oil change. Was told that's normal on oil burners.

Had a chance this morning so a bit late but adds to the thread. Mine is an original stick
