The aa have been out and it's the air conditioning compressor seized. So i will have to source a new one. Is there a way of routing the belt without the air con just so I can get it running again?

    Thanks

i may be totally wrong but if you route the belt the correct way but don't use the aircon you might be ok??

Either make sure ECON is displayed on the heater control or better still just switch it off

    good luck

Don't know about a belt "avoiding" the airco-pulley, but I think not.

When you come to sourcing the replacements, it looks like you will need compressor and the pulley/clutch unit. Obtaining the latter separately is difficult and or expensive. So you need to go for a compressor with pulley if possible. If no one on the forum can help you there, there is always RockAuto (www.rockauto.com. Search the catalog under Ford/Mustang GT/2001 (or 2002)/4.6l ) You should find several new or refurbished options there, with or without pulley. I just bought a Motorcraft YCC322 from them with pulley as did PeterV8 recently. Service is very fast and prices are, I think, very good. Common advice is always to change the condenser with seals at the same time for which Jules (Julian@jmacars.co.uk or www.jmacars.co.uk) is probably your best bet. He is the accepted airco/cooling-heating-system guru! A new TXV valve is MAYBE a good idea, depending on how much trash got into the system if the compressor itself has self destructed or not. It is cheap, however difficult/expensive to fit. A new serpentine belt would sound sensible after what happened.

    Best of luck!

Maybe better to pull the plug of the compressor, de-tension the belt and see if the pulley spins smoothly and silently by hand. It should.

(edit...) if it doesn't, then the clutch unit of the pulley is probably trashed. If it is "graunchy" or stiff then the clutch or bearing are AWOL or about to become so.

To detention the belt, a 3/8" square socket wrench on the pulley arm #7 on the diagram.

Hopefully all parts have been ordered, compressor, condenser and new serpentine belt. Hopefully the parts might be here for the weekend.
I have returned my questionnaire so hopefully I will be green soon.

When mine went a few years ago I took my car to Compressortech in Warwick. I was back there just last week for a regas. They know the 260 very well, especially Mark, their service guy, who worked at Longbridge.
