Default Things to look for in a ZTv8

After many years without one I want one again

anything I really need to check when looking at examples?

whats the weakness on the subframe? Mine was too young to have corrosion so where do I need to look?

    Thanks all

It's the central bar. On the original there is a hole in the centre that over the years lets spray into the frame but there is no hole to allow the water out. The water gathers in the corners and they rot

That one looks very familiar. I believe it is mine from no. 104.

For clarity the photograph shows the subframe upside down and the front of the vehicle is at the top.

There is enough room under the rear of the car to slide yourself in and see this without having to lift the vehicle. When I bought no. 104 I did just that and found the corrosion of which the seller was unaware. Take a torch and something to tap with, and check both sides. There was no actual hole when I bought it, but I quickly made one with my finger.

Good advice, as they rot inside out the last thing to go is the protective coating but once the corrosion meets the surface they disintegrate quickly

It has been a common theme that all was fine at MOT then a few months later it's completely gone
