It won't be the cable, I have never had to change a cable due to stretching, compensators on the other hand, I must have done 20 of the little buggers!

Another problem ... if i dont have the lever to the max, the car rolls ... I cant use the links above for some reason I do not have permission ... what is a compensator, how much are they to buy / can they be fitted by a layman or do i need my local mechanic or is it a specialist job?

Links will become available once you sent the questionnaire back.

Start with the simple things and adjust at the wheels first.
Car on axle stands, both wheels off, gear in neutral.
Adjust the wheel inside the drum through the hole with a flat screwdriver. (position hole at 12 o'clock)
1 Hand brake lever one click-up and adjust as per above until you feel a slight drag.
2 Drop the lever and see if the wheels move freely and than up to the 3 click with the lever and it should lock the wheels.

If not, repeat until they do with a little more drag in step one applied. There will be a slight friction due to the differential but you'll soon be able to tell the difference between drag and friction.
