Maybe just a good clean up inside the brake drums might save new handbrake shoes along with the handbrake compensator mod that Tim mention
from memory, Peugeot 605 handbrake shoes are very nearly identicle and some have fitted these I believe

    Hi Graham
Nobody has mentioned that it is possible to get your discs skimmed in-situ using a "Pro-cut" machine
This is providing your handbrake is working OK
This process is fairly inexpensive compared to the cost of new discs. Worth checking out, try googling for info and your nearest agent

There are a few mobile disc scimmers around worth checking them out as they can come to you.
