    Default Coil on plugs

    Hi all,

    well i finally bought a v8 :-) :-)

after driving a couple of hundred miles perfectly 051 started to hesitate and struggle under load. limped to Austins and Nick diagnosed a dodgy coil. he also suspected that another may be about to follow it.

He recommended the MSD blaster coil on plugs as a good upgrade from standard but they are quite expensive. So i guess i have a few questions relating to this:

how many of you use the MSD product? is it worth the upgrade? do you know of any good sources in the UK for these? all the ones i could see were in the states.

if anyone has upgraded does anyone have a few second hand standard ones they'd like to sell me?

or does anyone have a preferred source for stock coils?

    thanks

    paul

If you look on ebay, there are a few pattern ones available, last one i Bought was £30 and was fine. It's the same across most of the Ford V8 range..

Buyer beware you get what you pay for if the unit does not match up with the same electrical loads/impedance you can burn out the drivers in the ecu.

I have some standards taken off the car at 17000 miles but I don't know what to ask for them - yet. I'll do a bit of research and find out what's reasonable if you like

    Where are you located?

    Yes, I have them.

I believe so. Difficult to test. More bang = more power.
