Default Greetings from a new member and gearbox question

Hi, everybody, my name is Mike and i live in Exeter! I am, for my sins, a new owner of 2 ZT260s. After trying in vain to purchase 4 different 260s on Ebay, the final straw was a low mileage one in Falmouth last Bank Holiday weekend and I panicked and bought non SE but LPG X Power grey #159 a lovely car. But then, as fate would have it, I spotted Anthracite SE #89 in Cheshire. As I was on holiday I decided to go and have a look at it, and despite a crunchy synchromesh on 3/4th, decided to buy it as it was keenly priced and included every thing that I wanted. It arrived on Thursday and I whisked it up for MOT to be delighted that it failed only on the horn and windscreen wipers with a couple of minor advisories. So, once the MOT work is completed I shall be removing the gearbox and then getting it overhauled. Have any of you taken out a 260 gearbox? Any hints would be most welcome. In the mean time if anyone is interested in #159 it is for sale.

I'm sure someone will give you more detail but I believe you have to take out the engine and gearbox together,to avoid damage

    Hi and welcome.

Suggest you get the questionnaire back to Tim to become a full member.
You'll find loads of info not available in the public sections.

Gearbox is an engine out job and there is a repair manual in the Index section.
Box is the same as for a Mustang GT with the exception of 5th gear ratio.

Now there's a man desperate to get into 260 ownership

Get the questionnaire back which will open the main parts of the site and you may find answers to all current and future questions. You may find other owners will be able to give you advice on someone local to deal with your gearbox.

    Enjoy

My fault! I received the form and filled it in but in the buying frenzy of the last couple of weeks I failed to return it to Tim. i have now done so. i comfort myself that although it seems somewhat extravagant the two 260s only amount to the equivalent of a 2010 Focus 1.6...you pays your money and makes your choice as they say! I guess you guys would understand.
    Looking forward to getting involved
    mike
