If you think you can unsolder the ribbon cable to swap the message centre good luck, it can be done but you need a decent desoldering station!

I know and did this serveral times. Only once it failed

easier to get a set of 2nd hand clocks reset or just swap the chip over that has all the info on it

you are right, but this requires the working mc which I am looking for
