polishing the RS

A good t'cut with wet cloth in straight lines no circles when cutting back it take takes lots of time one panel at a time (not in the sun) then 2 or 3 polishes with a good quality polish a panel at a time and a really good buff. I normally t'cut and polish the same panel before going to the next so you can see the difference between the polished and the unpolished panels and it spurs you on.

I've used Farécla cutting compound before and got some great results and was put onto the stuff by a friend of mine who worked in a body shop. They have trade or consumer products. There's a few good video demo's on the site as well.

Wash, clay, try a medium clay first see what that does, ironX, good polish even a light cutting polish/compound then a good layer of wax, stay well away from Tcut

I don't know who Paul is but, I use R222 wax. Goes on very easy and does a great job. Perhaps buy a dual action polisher. The megs one I have has been upgraded now and is great for going the whole car as polishing and waxing can take all day.

AG super resin polish is always a good bet. Has fillers in so covers small scratches to a point.

What colour is the car? If it's dark AG Ultra Deep Shine will produce a deep shine. Apply using a damp sponge and it doesn't produce too much dust.

I got the Meguires DA Polisher complete kit for Xmas. Just waiting to test it (experiment) on my Sons Clio which has very poor paint.

I would be very careful about tackling your paintwork on the RS
Leaving a car covered with blankets for all that time is not necessarily a good thing
They can sometimes absorb water, particularly if the garage is damp
Please check out the paintwork for dampness and micro-blistering before you dive in
