    ouch!

Blimey Pete, wasn't expecting that. others previously asked how I had got on, and as I say, a lovely car. maybe I was wro g to say evidence of a respray, but there isn't a colour match. Yes, the tyres front tyres are fine NOW, but I don't think they will be for long.

I am not mechanically minded, so if I go looking under a car not sure I'd know exactly what I'd be looking at, but I could see that all panels are in line (or at least as much as they can be on an MGRover!) so no evidence of collision damage anywhere.

I had really high hopes for this car and they were not dashed. It's a nine year old car in great condition for its age, but it's still a nine yr old car.i want to see how it compares with other similarly aged cars before I decide. If it stacks up against the other, I am seriously interested.

If you don't want to sell, that's not my problem.

Well decision is just about made. I am going for the Firefrost Mark 2. It's in fabulous condition with very little that needs to be done.

It has X Power exhaust. They sound a bit vulgar, but all in favour of that!! Do they only affect the noise, or do they affect performance?

There is a whine on the clutch when the engine is cold. Took it out for a spin which was terrific fun, and the whine was not present when we returned. What is this likely to be?

There is evidence of a leaking boot seal around the lights with small amounts of water Getting into the boot - is this a common fault. There seems also to be a bit of water inside the rear lights, again is this normal and easily rectified?

    roll on next Friday evening!

Well I think the answer to the 5000 mile limit is to buy a second 260 and use one half the time and the other the rest of the time.
Of course if you do more than 10000 miles a year you will need a third 260
This way you'd be able to get your cheap insurance-think how much money you'd be saving

They affect the way you go through tunnels
Extra power is small, but every bit helps

    May be lack of use.
It is an engine out if it needs work. (8-10 Hours)
(You can not remove the just gearbox without potential damage to the shafts)

When I was driving the car on Saturday, the interior of the car got very hot when the ac unit was switched off. Soon cooled down when it was switched on. Is this normal or is it linked to the heater valve fault to which many on this and other sites have referred? If it is, I'll get the chap to fix this before I collct it.

Thanks for all your help so far.

Could be a slightly leaking heater valve although a lot of heat comes through from the engine.
Easiest way to check is to clamp of the hose out of the valve to the heater matrix and try again.

Uprated valves available via the shop (before ColinE mentions it again )
