Loads of discussion on that here! I'm just about to switch to Castrol Magnatec 5w20, the grade which Ford advises you to switch to instead of 5w30. Done over 200k miles on Mobil 5w30 though, so clearly OK!Quote:

The oil filler cap says 5w20 so that is what should go in it. Ford are renowned for going to great lengths to save a cent in vehicle production so if they went to the expense of having that printed the must have thought it important.
The oil filters must fit something else as my local motor factor had them on the shelf.

I use Petronas Sytium 7000
I find the Opie Oils site really helpful. Just tap in your registration no. and the site will bring up a range of oils suitable for each model. You can combine the oil with the correct filter in what they describe as a service pack which should automatically include the correct volume of oil for the engine. They will often pop up on the site offering discounts if you are lucky. From the selection of oils they recommended I choose Millers Nano-Drive 5w-40 for No146's guzzle this year and ordered the filter at the same time. Easy!

Lots of benefits to MGOC membership including the hosting of this forum for free, as with all things if you choose not to use these benefits then it's a personal preference, they are available if required. I've always thought the point of a forum is the interchange of ideas, giving and receiving help. If you aren't a full member then it is quite difficult to contribute, you can receive but it's quite difficult to participate fully and you will continually be asking the same questions that have been answered many times before.Quote:

The point I made then and now is that all the information provided in this excellent forum could be had for a lot less money per member if it were not provided as part of membership of MGOC. If people wanted to join MGOC as well then that would be their choice. I wouldn't. That's all.

Jensen Intercepter Mk3.......my first introduction into American V8's. Dad had one in the late 80's. A fantastic car. Fantastic car, great looks, comfortable, ice cold AC, went like stink and would stop on a penny. And the sound...... Not a great handling car but that wasn't what it was for. He used to drive from Oxford to Edinburgh in it regularly. Never missed a beat. Think it had the Carter carb on it still too. Only spare part he used to have to carry was the ceramic ballast resistor for the ignition. Used to get through one every few months. If the garage and wallet was big enough there would be one next to my 260 for sure. Great choice Steve.
Had my name on the list for a new S-V8 when the brand was re-launched on the 2000's. Got to know many of the people behind the project quite well and attended the official 'launch' at Speke. Sadly the project went belly up long before my build number came up. Just goes to show how difficult it is to get a new car off the ground from scratch and build sufficient numbers to recover the huge design and development costs.
