Advice on selling 260

Guys,

Looks like I may have to part company with my 260.

When I got her, I was in safe long term contract only 8 miles from home, which meant daily commute was cheap, and go go fun costs were all acceptable.
I got canned at end of January for being too good at job - go figure !

Anyway, means I may well now be travelling a lot further for work each day and the practicality is i'm going to need something much more economic to run (read diesel)

I don't really have any spare money to add to the car, which means i'm looking for something in same price region.

I'm not sure wether to private sale the car for cold hard cash, part-ex to a dealer or buy something brand new, again part ex-ing in.
My thought was it would be difficult to part-ex to same value, as it's not really in dealer's interest.

If I private sale etc, or for that matter dealer part-ex, any suggestions on value and best way to proceed.

She's a Starlight Silver SE with 13,100 miles on her. Full MGR dealer service history. Excellent tyres, all standard refinements. Currently also has xpower backboxes on, and an Accufab TB (yes i know if it goes to a dealer i'll remove as won't add any value). Also got lightly tinted windows professionally done.

I'll be gutted to let her go, but I think it really is on the cards if it's remotely viable.
I got her at a good price, so hopefully this will mean i won't of lost too much in depreciation.

Thoughts please guys ?

As an alternative to selling, have you thought about getting a cheap (sub £500) diesel as the daily runner, sticking it on 3rd party insurance, running it into the ground then getting another one?

Given the difference in fuel costs, you could probably pay for the above out of the saving you make in 260 juice!

This is precisely what I do.
I have a Peugeot 405 estate TD - and it has been a revelation (it's actually my second one on the trot from ebay). These reliable workhorses are good for interstellar mileage and the estate is so useful. I can park it where I like, parts are very cheap and there are plenty of very inexpensive specialists to help with anything major. I get 600 miles to a tank of diesel, it'll cruise at 85 all day and is surprisingly refined and quiet.
If you have the space for another car - I would highly recommend this route.

Yep done the same, have the R75 CDT as my daily drive. :)

I reckon 12-14k private, 9 - 10k partex. Would take both the xpower and acufab off and sell private.

I'd have another car, but parking where i live is a complete nightmare with 2 cars, and soon the ZR race car will be home, and then we have to get creative with parking, so a 4th one is out of the question really.
It's a nice idea, but I don't think i'd enjoy having the ZT as a fun car, when the ZR has been built to fulfill that purpose both on trackdays, but also road legal if i fancy a blat.

Think it's time to give her a wash, take some pics, and stick her up on autotrader :(

ok, she's up for sale now, first off on forums, and then on autotrader in next couple of weeks.

£11,500 as she is, with Accufab, X Power exhausts and 6 months tax
£11,000 if I take off the Accufab and exhausts

rear tyres at 11,000 miles (now on 13,100)
front tyres at 11,500 miles

at asking price, will even throw in the double din faceplate I got from the states.

I know most on here already own a 260, but it's worth posting up in case you know someone who may fancy one.
