Hi,
Looking for a ZT260 in Australia. Anyone in Oz looking to sell?
Also what does anyone know about the supercharger kit originally developed by MG Rover?
Cheers

Hi Mark and welcome!
I'm not sure how many are down under. I'm sure Tim will have an idea.
You could export one out there?
As far as I know, there were twelve 260 saloons exported to Aus as new cars. Some were sold before the closure, but a few (about five I think) went to the liquidation auction. How many have been imported since then I couldn't say - only know of my ZT-T which arrived last October. Steve Foldhazy (V8fangio) keeps a register and may know of any current cars for sale. There was one around Sydney last year sometime.
Where is home Mark? Would you like a 180 instead to get you started? :~
The database says 23 where exported to Oz, all ZT's. I'm aware of three further exports so there are around 26 cars there. :D No 75's
Can you give me the VIN Numbers.
PS. I have greened the cars that are not in england on the list.

Ive turned the OZs Brown http://www.pistonheads.com/inc/images/tumbleweed.gif
Ah, the wide brown land - we love it. Just the place to open up a 260... Thanks for the numbers Tim. Don't know where I got the 12 from - one of those folk lore stories that seem to get around.
For Brummie's info, there is one 260 for sale at the moment for $46k in Bendigo, Victoria (check out carsales.com.au). The owner reckons there were 11 imported out of 770 made!
Actually, Tim, what is the number of MGs out of the total?
I was also hoping to see my name in brown on my posts, Andy...
Malcolm, when you imported your car what value did customs put on it for import duty purposes?
There will be another 260 Down Under by the end of the year (but it won't be for sale!).
Ben
I provided my importing agent with a copy of the receipt for the purchase of the car back in June 2008. That was for 8500 quid. I told her that I figured the value of the car at the time of the import was about 7000 quid (August 2009). The valuation for duty, etc, was $A16K or so, down to the nearest cent. Customs must have taken some value in the range and converted using the exchange rate at the time. Doesn't seem as though they made any attempt to find a local market value.
Cheers all for your contributions.
Malcolmr,
Who did you use to import the car? What was the total cost? Any issues with registration relating to ADR comliance etc.
Will be in the UK in april so if all good will look to doing a deal.
Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark - send me an email to musgrovemedia at netspeed dot com dot au please and I can forward you some details. The key issue to overcome is that you need to prove that the owner of the vehicle has owned and lived with it in the UK for twelve months before it can be imported to Australia and that that person is eligible to bring "personal effects" into Australia. This usually means they are Aussies living abroad and returning home with their car collection in containers, or someone emigrating.
Hi Malcolm,
The figure of 12 being imported to Oz came direct from MGA - the official importers (as opposed to interlopers like your good self).
In answer to the OP, there is one for sale now on carpoint.com.au
The owner is dreaming though - wants A$46,000...
Hopefully this link will work for you.
Regards, Bob.
