Thankyou Phil
you were a lot quicker than i was doing the clutch no doubt. Diff shocks are available through the club I think, never seen a diff mount fail though but they obviously do. Is it the large plate that the diff bolts to with 2 large bushes or the other one thats at an angle? Post 16 or 17? https://www.two-sixties.co.uk/mgoc26...bframe-removal
Part number for the large bushes are TBS000050, it's the same bush as number 4 https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-TBS000050
Buggar to change but that's what I put on mine as I changed all three bushes, both 4 and 5. It shows a different part number for number 4, from memory that's TBS000040 but I can assure you they're the same. I bought mine from Scott at DMGRS
Clutch was done about 6weeks ago although the car is still with them as they was ment to be doing the rear end whilst they had it. I havent seen it in 14weeks.
I will get my chap who mots my car and van to fit them, at the same time i might get him to fit my discs and pads as they are still sitting here gathering dust.
Bummer, that's not good
I agree 100%, the only job I admit I cant do is body and paintwork, I dont have the patience. I would rather spend the money on the tools so I can do the job than pay some one else and then find its not to my standard. Luckily I have a friend who had a body shop.
I'm beginning to get on a bit now so slowly scaling down what work I do on cars . I sent my son's mg montego turbos engine off to be rebuilt as I didn't want to do that any longer . Completely messed it up so I took it back and did it myself... Again. Comes a point when I now only trust a few places these days but I have to stop at some point.
I feel for Phil though having to wait that long as it shouldn't be like that
If theres something I can't do on my zt I will always send it up to Chris at retro sports as I trust him
Funny you mention Chris at retro sports, I had a mk1 260 bumper dropped of at my house yesterday by a nice chap called James and his partner is Chris,s daughter..
we had a nice chat...
I think in future i will be using retro sports for any work that needs doing..
Wish i went to Chris at retro sports, Picked my car up yesterday from the so called specialist i took it to, the clutch now works well but its not happy now blowing from manifold my what was working aircon is now gas free so no aircon now, Engine managment light was on all the way home and the smell of neat fuel so i checked the fuel line and to my suprise fuel leaking out what more annoyed me was the fact it only needed pushing in to locate it.
I then went around all the engine bay and found quite a few loose jubilee clips on the induction side of the engine, the final touch is im now minus a plastic under tray, after the last few messages between myself and the garage before i picked the car up im loosing the will to sort it all out with them.
I hear this so often, because a garage can change a set of plugs on a Fiesta they think they can do anything. I have had Interceptors delivered to me on a low loader after a garage cant get it going or no brakes. Specalist cars need specalists and trying to save a few quid by taking somewhere local or handy is often a bad idea.
Rover75 and mgzt specialist is who i used, not someone who thought they could do it hence why i had taken 80miles away from me to have it done.
You live and learn as they say.
I thought he had a good reputation but clearly doesn't know much about V8's or how to keep a customer happy. You do know it's very awkward to replace the down pipe gasket in situ ? It's not good that you have to finish the job yourself and to undo the non finished job.
To be fair he has put his hands up to the faults and has said sorry, plus hes sending my undertray back to me via tracked delivery, I dont like to moan or get arsey with people but then i get no where with things.
The down pipes look like a git to do,my local mechanic here who takes care of my van will take a look if need be.
Have to assume so as the engine and gearbox has to come out. After 14 weeks waiting I think Phil is grateful just to have it back . Looks like he will address the issues in due time, have to also assume he's getting some money back as Tom had owned up to the issues he left
I did have new coil packs spark plugs and 2 engine mounts fitted aswell for that price,
Yes DMGRS did me proud on them ordered friday they got them in stock for the Tuesday and on my door step wednesday morning.
2 new diff shocks here aswell through the e shop.
Yes my local garage will be removing and refiting the bushes after the tales of woe about them being a pig to do.
