Just seen this one #060 on eBay too - looks nice (clean engine bay!)
Yes, Andrew, I put it onto the thread Complete List of 260s FOR SALE on Sunday morning (the actual eBay listing was late on Saturday evening).
Looking at the Complete List is a pretty good way of keeping your finger on the pulse, since I update it at least daily from a large number of advertising sources. I bet you missed the one-day auction of a 73,000 mile, XPG, ZT260 that was sold on eBay for £4,100 yesterday afternoon! It was in the Complete List. Someone got a bargain (maybe). You can see the old listing still: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mg-zt-260...EAAOSwR9pa9vlM

Thursday Morning, The car is shown as unsold on Brightwells website.
I was at auction and I inspected the file of papers with the car.
VIN 485
Not an SE Registered Jan 2005
Recent respray, Some trim loose, Dent on roof caused by delivery driver
I went to buy it but the condition put me off
No Service book, Assortment of old MOTs and Invoices (none from Specialists) included a report about Air Con Failure but I did not see an invoice for that to have been fixed
Please PM me if you want to know more
Thanks for the info. Suspected as much.Quote:
... The car is shown as unsold on Brightwells website....
David
I know somebody who went to look at it a few weeks ago hoping to a deal with the owner as it had been on Ebay for ages, he was there less than 10 mins and said it looked a lot better in the pictures than in the flesh. Oddly the dent on the roof was there when he looked at it.
By the sound of it the owner should take the bid and run.
I know when I was looking for my car some were very disappointing and some owners idea of immaculate is not mine, when you are buying a 14 year old car there will obviously be imperfections but when you see a car described as in A1 condition to find damage or badly repaired damage and with obvious faults it does make you feel like shaking the seller. One car I viewed even had a CAT C that I was not informed about before I viewed the car, the seller reckoned it could be removed if I had it tested.
Steve
True, Steve. Went to look at two ZT 260's for sale at garages in my local area in the last couple of weeks. #801 and #822. Both XPG, both had right rear corner damage repaired (badly) coincidentally, and both tatty in the extreme, and both at stupid prices. Euro 14,500 to 19,500 !
... and two bolshy salesmen claiming that you have to expect that with a classic of that age(?); take it or leave it.
I despair !

Did anyone notice the final winning bid (if any) on #609 when the eBay auction ended this evening maybe? I was out of signal on my mobile and was unable to check! Now it has gone from eBay.
We are talking about post #30 in the Complete List of 260s FOR SALE (Page 2).
Thanks!
David
As far as I can see there were no bids.

Thanks Nich.
What I found unusual about that particular listing, was that if I searched for "MG ZT 260 V8" in all categories, it never came up and didn't when advertised on eBay auction a few weeks back. Same on my PC as on my iPhone. I don't know why, but warned the seller accordingly. Maybe because I am accessing it from outside the UK? Why then only that one? Other vehicles did and still do show up in the search.
My eBay 'alert' I have running for that self same search string DID work, which is how I found out about it. Accessing the ad itself was then no problem. Odd, but could perhaps explain why there were no bids if others had the same searching problem maybe.
David
I've given up trying to work out why some things work and some don't. The amount of time I have wasted trying to work out why Facebook sometimes comes up with some posts and not others and then displays the others and not the originals......very frustrating.
Nich.
...
Generally because they try to be too clever, deciding what you want (or worse still enforcing it) because that is what most would want to happen. As far as I can see, Facebook postings and their visibility obey no normally accepted human logic. It appears to be solely based on AI deciding that, in order to ensure we are all subjected to the maximum degree of exploitation.
Even Mr. Trump and Mrs. May appear to have noticed recently! (surprisingly in both cases).

Copart No. 304 - it says "Front End Damage" - what's actually wrong with it?
Andrew
My guess going from the description the area behind the bumper is probably damaged, plastic bumpers can hide a lot of damage as they will go back into there original shape.
If I had the time I would be tempted to go and see how bad it really is.
At least it does not appear to be recorded or at least that is what they are claiming, I know of somebody who bought a motorbike from Coparts with the same claim but it was an insurance write off.
Steve
Too much of a risk otherwise, unless it stayed at the current bid maybe, but the reserve is higher anyway.
Were that the case with this car, I guess you would have a good chance of being able to walk away from the deal without commitment.
David
I'd have it to be honest, but for it to be auctioned like this, must mean there is at least some serious damage to the front suspension/underside/whatever.
Plus that with all the other issues they need sorted... one hell of a time sink.
£4550, not a chance from me. Time and money pit, but hope someone on here lets us know the condition.
Final bid £4,550 to someone in the UK, and Sold.
There was a lot of bidding, all but 1 bidder (Poland) from the UK.

Hi all I've had my 260 for a couple of years now but it just isn't getting used. It is an SE with additional option pack, cost around £30000 in 2004. There is an extensive service history. Over £1000 was spent in 2015 on all kinds of maintenance, including replacement new rear springs. That was about 5000 miles ago-it has done 66000 now.We put a pair of decent rear tyres on-that was all it needed when we bought it-and it has an MOT till next May. Everything works as it should, X Power exhaust sounds lovely!. Great car in excellent condition but we have too many cars and it is not used enough.

Yes, but you've missed something. It is LHD and in Switzerland. All LHD cars are exceedingly rare, particularly ZT-T's and all R75V8's, so on the strength of scarcity alone, the price being asked is not surprising ... or did you think the price was too low perhaps?
Earlier this year 2 XPG ZT260's (not ZT-T) sold in the same part of Germany and coincidentally on almost the same day. Mileage was almost identical too, and photographs appeared to indicate a similar (very good) condition. Bot one was LHD and the other RHD.
The market is only to a degree 'international', and local market pricing generally takes the priority.Quote:
22/02/2018 *** Assumed SOLD, Listing ended *** (Original listing 03/01/2018, Weddingstedt, Germany, LHD)
2006 MG ZT260 SE, XPG, LHD, 145,700 Km., Euros 16,980, VIN ???
23/02/2018 *** Assumed sold, no longer listed *** (Originally listed 21/02/2018, Norderstedt, Germany, but RHD)
2004 MG ZT260, X-Power Grey, 150,000 km, Euro 7,900, VIN ???
Check out the entire list, Complete List of 260s SOLD in 2018, and you will see what I mean.
As far as this particular car is concerned, you must remember that Switzerland is not a member state of the EU, which adds an extra dimension of cost and complexity to the possible solution of importing a car from another LHD-country, boosting Swiss market prices.

Knew I'd seen it somewhere before! eBay Auction a little under a year ago, from the same owner.
The old eBay listing still exists showing the final (presumably unsuccessful) bid of £12,825, 'Reserve not met', at that time.
The camera date excuse is wearing a bit thin!
... and the need to display a paper tax disc ended on October 1st. 2014, so ....

Something very odd going on .....
I thought CCA was an auction house ?
Edit. The list of lots post auction only show cars as being 'Sold for ....' or 'Buy now for ....'. No shown as 'Passed' or 'Unsold' at all. that's apparently the way CCA works?

Thanks, mate! You can ignore the PM that I posted to you a couple of minutes ago then!

After 13 years of V8 ownership and with deep regret I announce that I am selling #862 'The Red Dragon'. The car is not getting the use it should so it is time to say good bye.

Braided hoses all round.

The Red Dragon has covered 50k miles and has been serviced regular by myself. Last service carried out may 2018.
In 2010 I had a full stainless steel twin pipe front to rear exhaust fitted which included two sports cats going into the X-Power back boxes. Also in 2010 Titanium rocker covers were fitted, a 75mm throttle body and spacer. K&N filter
Other spcs include
Full heated memory leather seats

Yes, I've seen those too, 'Preloved', 'drive24', 'motors.co.uk', amongst others, at 2000 quid less. Since the dealer's own site says £14,995 I've stuck to that.
I have had contact with two serious buyers who have seen the car. The car remains unsold, I note.
