Hi there, just joined and wanted to say a quick hello to everyone.

I don't actually own a 260 (as yet) but do own a ZT 180 and Rover 75 2.5 V6, so I suppose that equates to a 360 in a round about sort of way :ash

Will have a good look round and hopefully spot some familiar names :wave

Cheers

Paul.

Welcome aboard,

what sort of V8 are you looking for?

Well I'm not really looking for one for the time being. I run two V6's which I don't want to part with, and the wife, the garage, and the bank balance won't stand for another.

But if and when, it would have to be a Monogram ZT SE

Holy thread revival! Well it's only taken me 5 years but I've just acquired the only Monogram Lagoon Supertallic V8 built. Number #158 a MK1 ZT 260 SE saloon with 51,000 on the clock.

I pick it up on Saturday and will enjoy the drive back from Crewe to Southampton I'm sure :drive

Anyway, here is a picture to be going on with for those that may be interested

Cheers Callum, yes I had to bide my time. I knew it existed as a member on the 75 & ZT Owners Club had sent me some pictures of it parked on the side of the road a few years ago. One day, I thought, it might come up for sale....one day, and it did :)

It's got an accufab throttle body on it as well I'm told for that extra bit of thrunge!

As it turned out, I was the only bidder, lucky for me. I guess the fact that there are two other 260's on eBay at the moment at half the price may have had something to do with it?

Thanks for all the good wishes. Just 24 hours to go now until collection :)

Here's a question I wanted to ask, is it possible / has anyone done it, to add cruise control to a 260? It is the only thing that is missing from the car that I know I will keep reaching for as I use it on my other three all the time.

Has as anyone retrofitted it to theirs?

I have not done it on a 260 but it will depend if the wiring is there.

If it is all you will need to do is by the components and maybe tick a box in T4.

I retrofitted to a Saab a few years ago and all the wiring was there it just didn't have the extra components, took a few hours striping the bits of a scrap car and half a day fitting. I don't know if I was lucky but it just worked first attempt.

If there is no wiring you will probably be better fitting an aftermarket kit but use the genuine 260 Switches where possible. If you do go this route don't buy cheap, the ECU on the cheap kits are not the best and are often quite jerky in operation.

Merl retrofitted it to his Mk1, the only one I'm aware of. His car had the loom fitted and he sourced the actuator and other parts. I'd love to do this on mine too as I use cruise all the time in my ZT-T.

When i was looking at 260's initially i was under the impression the earlier MK1's never had the loom fitted only later mk1's on the change over year had the looms.
I could be proven wrong though.

When I get the car, I will remove the two hole switch panel to see if the loom is there for the sun blind, I'll check to see if a cruise plug is lurking tucked away too. Glad to hear it has been done, and yes a ZCS code change via T4 would be needed to 'tell' the car it has the option.

I actually have just dismantled the Cruise brackets etc on my recuse V8 to give them a paint the part numbers are on the actuator etc. I have took some photos of them with brackets etc. I will get them sorted and start a new thread when back home.

Already posted this on the 75 ZT Owners Club, but thought I'd post the pictures here too :)

On my return journey from Crewe to Southampton (214 miles) I used 41 litres of fuel which works out at 24mpg. Considering I get between 28 - 32 mpg in the V6, it's not that shocking

Well, I've had the front panel off, and while it is pre-wired for the rear sunblind which is nice, it doesn't have the Cruise Control connector lurking round the back :( Neither does it have the wiring in place for power folds sadly.

Having now gone through some of the paperwork that came with #158, it's interesting to see that the car left the production line on 8th December 2003, but wasn't registered for first use until 24th January 2005 so the car had either been stored or was on display at Longbridge or a dealership for a year and a month before being purchased.

I've also discovered that the first owner was none other than Actor Ken Morley (AKA Reg Holdsworth from Coronation Street) who bought it just 3 months before MG Rover Group collapsed. He owned quite a large collection of American cars at the time and obviously loved the ford Mustang engine to buy this one.

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn105/reebspics/reebspics003/Ken%20Morley.jpg

Looking at the car's MOT history, it's amazing to see that in the year between it's 1st and 2nd MOT in 2009, Ken had only driven it 7 miles! He ultimately owned it for 5 and a half years before passing it on to the next owner. In his ownership it had covered a total of 12,977 miles.
