Hi all!
I have just acquired a Rover 75 V8!
Still not quite believing it, but when I look out the window, there it stands, it is mine!

I have followed the car for a number of years, and now it has paid off.

The car needs a new front screen and a bit of cosmetic attention.
The non functioning central locking has been sorted out (20A fuse!)

Beautiful!

I have done the questionnaire, but I am still "black and blue" Ha Ha.

As for the car, it was acquired at an auction, as a non-runner. That explains the flatbed. The car was sold without anyone really knowing what it was, I suspect. Alternatively I am the only fool in attendance, which, of course is not entirely impossible!
The full full petrol gauge alerted me that maybe there was a problem! I filled 10 liters in the car, and it started promptly. they couldn't open the boot, that turned out to be a 20A fuse for the central locking. The front tyres had been stolen and replaced with useless, wrong sized pieces of rubbish, so I bought 2 Goodyear 215/50X17. The mags have scuff marks and a small dent and scratches, they really need to be refurbished. Only problem is I don't know if they can maintain the machine marks which are under the clear paint.
Checked oil, and water, and took it for a spin.

Everything works, even the charging light flickers as it is supposed to!!
They have been at the alternator, there are some crude signs of tampering with that wiring loom, and the alternator has been sprayed silver.

The car is smooth, fast, taut, silent. The most noticable difference from the 1.8T, which it (opposed to my 2.5 tourer) shares a high ride height with, is the firmer upholstered seats and firmer suspension. The car handles much better than the 1.8T, and almost the same as my tourer, although there seems to be much less spring travel on the tourer. Might be my imagination!!
Another noticeable difference is with the steering on full lock, it feels as if the tyres are turned at 90 degrees and there is considerable resistance to forward movement. The clever thing is to turn less sharply or go very slowly at sharp turns.

With cruise on, you could travel from Cape to Cairo!

Uphill, downhill don't worry!

Oh, and I gave a BMW the surprise of his day as he passed me with blazing lights on the highway. I just tucked in behind him, with a respectfull distance and followed him! I could just see his confused gaze in the rearview mirror, and smoke from his exhausts as he tried to pull away, unsuccessfully I might just add!!
Point proved, I let him go and lick his wounds. Rather behave as a gentleman.

BLISS!!!
