Due to a massive change to my personal circumstances, No 146 has to go, and it almost certainly means an end to V8 ownership.

It's an SE with HK and HiLine. I've also added the electric rear blind and 2nd horn.

Brief history, I'm the 4th registered keeper, has a genuine 35,000 miles on the clock.

Service history is almost complete, but I gave it a full service from stem to stern earlier this year which is all doccumented. It had new front pads and discs before I bought it, and I've changed the rear pads as well.

It's just had an interim 5000 mile oil change.

In starlight silver and 11 spoke wheels with heated grey alcantara.

I've also added an electric rear blind.

It is a Cat C, but from the digging I've done and going over the car, I believe that it was due to the availability of parts rather then the extent of the damage. It has passed a VIC as well as an MOT since the repair (which was done before I bought it)

Taxed to the end of Fenruary and MOT'd until January 2013
Other then that, it's a very clean standard car as it came from the factory.

The only blemishes, are some marks on the lower part of the front passenger door, which looks like a strap when it's been recovered have marked the paint and a poor touch up on a stone chip.

Hello, do you have any idea where the car was damaged? Any common V8 bits been replaced?

And of course, is it still for sale? ;)

There has been a lot of soul searching, but I just can't hang onto it any longer.......It get's used once a month now, and there is no point in it sitting outside taxed and insured. It needs to be driven or kept warm.

If the lottery comes up it would help, but in reality it needs a new home.

Good luck with the sale. It does not seem to be an easy time to sell at the moment, I have not had much interest in mine. A bit frustrating as it looks as though I have found a new car to buy and not got room to park them all!

There is one a bit similar on PH for under 5k I think,

It is weird some cars seem to fetch strong money and other ones struggle...

Shame to let it go for under £4k, must be cheaper to pay the fuel and keep it ?! :)

It was a terribly low price, but even for a 260 being a Cat C puts your Average Joe off as they hear such horror stories on watchdog and rogue traders etc etc.

As my boss says, a Cat C car is likely to be more structurally sound than another car of the same age, as it's had repair work done to it, whereas a car that's not been touched for X years is likely to be rusty as heck and have something likely to let go at any moment.

Hi there. I am new to the forum and have much love for mg's and especially the 260. I have previously owned a Rover 200 brm (still have this one) and also a zs 180. My dad has a 1978 mgb gt v8 and also a 1999 rv8 so we are bit mg mad. My wife has suggested that she may be happy for me to look at a 260 and I would be very interested incoming to look at the car. Please could you let me know where abouts you are? many thanks, Simon

I too have ( like many others) an RV8 and a 260 so if you can get the 260 to join the others you have then go for it! I have had my 260 only since last summer and I love it...yesterday marked exactly eight years since I bought the RV8..and I still love that too!!! Have used both this week, RV8 to go to MGCC Kimber House in Abingdon and I took the 260 to work this morning. Different engine noises and very different to drive but both have the right badge and the right number of cylinders. So go for it!!!!

I have to agree with "ianq" I also got mine last summer, end of May, and love it, I have another twist on the V8 theme though having a 1968 Rover P5B with the 3500 V8, very different cars as you can imagine, but still V8, in a British car with an American engine. Go for it, you know it makes sense!

You can break a stupid Golf or DieselburnerMercedesW123BauernBenz200D for spares, but NOT a 260. Treasure it.

Mine has the same springs and sits a bit lower than the originals, with the 235/40's sticks to the road well. :)

Maybe the front springs should have been done at the same time and you would have a slightly lowered 260 :)

I thought about trying to get front ones made to lower it ;)

Mine Black Betty springs have done well over 5k miles possibly 10k miles now... Iit did 3.5k miles across europe with a fully loaded boot and it never caused a problem! Only thing is you have to do some speed bumps a tad slower or staggered.... Has passed 3 mot's now I think with them on so definitely not a problem.

You could allways put some rubber in the bottom of where the spring sits and raise the car maybe 10-15 mm. If I remember correctly the springs sit pretty deap in the holder so should not be a problem raising it a bit.
