Hi all.

Had a look at a 260 se yesterday, just wanted to ask if you guys with experience think it sounds ok.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-MGZT-4-6-V8-260-SE-/230571209596?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item35af1d737c

Went out for a drive, couldnt feel anything that seems obviously wrong or abnormal.
Car is standard except the back boxes which are quite loud. But in a good way.

Does this sound like a fair price, or is it a bit steep?
Also i read abouot the sat nav update disc, is this something that would be a pre 2005 or is this still needing updateing.? i asked the owner but he didnt know anything about updates and he definatley hadnt done one for it. is it still availiable? does it cost loads?

Its from NJC Autotech

They say the are (were in 2002 at least) and approved mg specialist. ANy body had any dealings with them?

really any thoughts and or advised would be welcome.
cheers all

Whilst we'd all like to think our cars are worth this, I'd say in the current climate this is a little steep BUT I've not seen the car

Nick at Autotech did indeed come from an MG Franchise - in Fleet I think but not 100% sure

Sat Nav disc can be obtained from Navteq though copies are available, though we do not condone pirate copies, in all honesty you'll probably want to replace the CD drive with the MK4 BMW DVD based unit - much faster, or replace the whole set up with new double din ICE unit

If you like the car and it seems sound then go for it, you'll not regret it (even with todays fuel prices)

Once you've got her and become a full member on here a whole world of info will open up

Agree with all that Colin has said but the cream seats seem a bit 'odd', didn't think they were an option but I could be wrong, I so often am according to SWMBO.

:o

Upgrade to the Mk4 DVD SatNav can be expensive but the new double DIN ICE touchscreen unit runs IGO and is worth considering, lots of info on the 75/ZT Owners Club site about retrofit.

Damn thats some quick replys!

The guy is called Nick. seemed very nice, come accross as more of bodyshop guy than a mechanic.

TBH the cream interior is not really my thing, personally like the darker colours, however there is obviously a limited number of these cars to choose from.

What as a rough guide would you say is a fairer price for this then? obviously want to get it for the best price i can!

The car will come with a new mot, service repainted wheels ( where it has been kurbed) and there are a few scratches ( 3 little ones really worth noting) which he says he will sort out. They cant polish out so i wonder exactly what that means as this one isnt a "normal" paint job.

If Nick's going to 'make good' a monogram paint finish for that price I think that's pretty fair - the 'flip' paint finishes are very expensive to 'patch'

If it was me, I'd almost accept the price point but push for all the paint corrections to be done

For budgetting purposes a full refurb of 4 APEX wheels (that's the design) is around 350 - 400

THe monogram colour will push the price up a bit, as will the cream leather, so I'd say, realistically (getting ready to be shot down by the collective) 6.8 to 7k is realisitic

Totally agree with Colin..........again. The special edition with the cream leather and Poseidon paint make it a 'one off.' Bound to attract a premium price....for those looking for a 260.

(Looks as if it might have rear electric sunblind fitted as well).

Hi and welcome.

Don't rush into anything, I think John Newey (another Two-Sixties member, and V8 owner) at Summit MG in Dudley area has one the same colour for sale for a similar price. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201038368886933/sort/priceasc/usedcars/engine-size-cars/4l_to_4-9l/make/mg/page/1/radius/1500/postcode/bs347qe?logcode=p

Yes there were only 883 built, but there are plenty to choose from for sale at the moment

When you decide to buy, we can swap interiors :D

still a lot of car for the money. I think this is the third cream interior we've heard of - it's just a matter of personal taste
If you don't like the interior I'd suggest you look elsewhere, there are plenty coming up

Id have a look at the state of the heater valve and heater hose and if they havent been done see if you can deal them into the price. you dont want to be buying and shelling out soon after.

To replace both with upgraded club versions will set you back just over £200 plus fitting to give you a negotiating point (that price assumes you become a full member on here)
