Don't panic, I'm not leaving the fold, but I fancy a MKII.

It's an SE with HK and HiLine. I've also added the electric rear blind and 2nd horn.

Brief history, I'm the 4th registered keeper, has a genuine 30,000 miles on the clock.

Service history is almost complete, but I gave it a full service from stem to stern earlier this year which is all doccumented. It had new front pads and discs before I bought it, and I've changed the rear pads as well.

In starlight silver and 11 spoke wheels with heated grey alcantara.

I've also added an electric rear blind.

It is a Cat C, but from the digging I've done and going over the car, I believe that it was due to the availability of parts rather then the extent of the damage. It has passed a VIC as well as an MOT since the repair (which was done before I bought it)

Other then that, it's a very clean standard car as it came from the factory.

What are the differences between the MK1 and MK2?

colintf
03-10-2010, 07:46 PM
rear springs (except the first few Mk2's)
front bumper and headlights
exterior badging
boot entry via key deleted on Mk2
different facia finish Dark Rhodium sadly replaced with technical grey (in my opinion Dark Rhodium is much nicer)

just a few changes that first spring (no pun intended) to mind Peter

no doubt there is a definitaive list detailing the changes somewhere

Front and rear bumpers
Headlights
Dash board
Dash lighting
Remote boot release
Rear springs.
Different range of colours (some added and some removed)

I think that's about it...

None taken. Unfortunately we don't have a "tongue in cheek" smiley ;)
I also think the tech-grey is not the best.

thanks Andrew. Additional smiley required!

I accepted Tech Grey for 3 years in the TF. It was only when I saw the Dark Rhodium finish in the Mk1's that I was dissapointed in the tech grey finish in the TF / Mk2's etc

I had the black oak in my previous ZT  so the tech grey was a bit obvious. It was a case of looking at the pros and cons...

... MG, rear whell drive, 4.6L, V8....

...the pros won :D

.
I understand a Cat D is usually registered to vehicles where parts availability is an issue. Cat C usually denotes extensive damage.

Do you have any more details regarding the accident?

greeners
15-02-2011, 10:23 AM
It was repaired prior to me buying it, and I suspect that it was down to cost rather then damage.....Insurers are only too keen to write off MGR cars rather then start reparing and finding they can't get all the parts to finish.

This is a really nice example. David (Greeners) is a meticulous and very knowledgeable owner, who is well known in 75/ZT circles and so I would have no hesitation in recommending one of his cars.

When it comes to buying a car with the potential for having had severe accident damage that is guessed at as being only moderate, recommendations from friends, although sweet gestures, are irrelevant.

David - do you have any further information whatsoever? Have there been any issues since your ownership? Any indicative signs of having been in accident? (are all panels/shut lines perfectly aligned?) etc

There are a couple of overspray marks in the wheel arch, panel gaps are as they should be, and it drives beautifully

It's a great looking car - you have to look hard for evidence of the repairs which have clearly been done well, and the car has been looked after superbly in David's care

Only negative - it's silver :fight2
