Many of us use Stainless Steel Mesh.

I have SS but sprayed Black. ;)

Yes, thanks Andy, I've seen those and have considered it. But being an idle sod I only want to change the big lower grille. The rest is original and it all ought to look the same.
It's not exactly a 5 minute job to change the little ones for SS mesh. :(

Rimmers had them in stock again a few weeks ago. Just got to overcome my inertia now and fix it.
A bit more urgent now as the mesh one has been somewhat distorted by an errant pheasant.
