Hi, I need a new aircon compressor and pully assembly, mine has all but destroyed itself today after a run to and from Brands.
Also had a trail of blue smoke from the rear right hand side of the car for a short while, It stoped when i slowed down, could also smell burning rubber and carbon like a london underground train. I switched the aircon off at this point, probably just before it siezed. Sounds like a disk cutter in a dustbin now so cant run it untill the repaires are done.
Can anyone help with getting the parts I need, any help would be much appreciated.

Ken...

And have a look at this thread, Ken: https://www.two-sixties.co.uk/mgoc260/html/f0rum/showthread.php?t=5645. I imported my compressor from the States and it's still doing well (so it should - it's only a few months old!). There are also some other threads with similar information but still worth reading.

Techchoiceparts.com are doing them for $140 plus delivery of $105.5 (5 days) or $76.80 (6 to 10 days) thats about £165 with 5 days delivery. Customs may put their lump on once in the country.
Any one know what the import duty is?...

Thought duty would be approx the VAT amount, so 17.5% + admin fee

Anyone correct me if wrong

Parcel force will slap a 'holding fee' on it too. Which I find highly annoying considering I didnt ask them to either hold it or even post it. Bastards. They have lost 2 out of 2 of my stuff too. Cant get better service than that! :D

Have ordered one from GT Racing paid for today total cost of unit £215 inc delivery. I have to say they have been great and provided me with an excellent service.
Regarding the auxillary belt are these an over the counter part from motor parts traders or can you only obtain them from specialist places.

Thanks for all your help, the cars running very well now although i do have an issue thats bugging me. I have creaking front drivers side steering / suspension. I had the shock top mount changed but this made no differance. It only creaks once the cars been on the road and warmed up, the warmer it gets the louder it gets, any ideas...

The duty and VAT normally works out at about 23.5% for car parts. And yes you pay tax on a tax .

My A/C compressor seems to be making a noise. It makes the noise with the a/c on or off, but only on a pretty warm day?

I am under the impression that if the compressor fails then you need to change the condenser and have the system flushed through.

Did you need to do this?

Thanks,

SJR

Hi the new compressor was fitted and the system flushed twice. First flush to get the debris out and the second to make sure. Was then gassed up and is now running well. No other parts were changed . Hope this helps.
Ken...:)
If its making the noise on or off then its probably the pully bearing and bushes.

Hi Ken.... ebay.... used standard 75 wishbones.....and used the well worn originals as a template to mark, drill and countersink to take the drop links, have now all new front end bar the roll bar, just personal choice, for the record there was nothing wrong with the track rod ends or drop links(both parts replaced) just that I had new discs, springs and shockers on the front and thought might as well go the "whole hog".
