Sadness above sadness the old girl who has seen me through thick and thin has to go. I bought the car from a dealer at a cost of 22k. Probably one of the few that did. I was in an RTA on a motorbike soon after purchase, so she was laid up in her own heated garage whilst I recuperated.

I also ran several other vehicles so the milage over the five years of ownership I only clocked up 34k. She suffered at the hand of a shopping trolly and would you believe a spent firework dinked the passengerside roof.

The upgrades on the heater pipe, rear springs and fuel pump have all been done apart from that she is in standard trim. She has a full service history from specialist MG service centres. All the info on the car is on the 260 database, and I beleieve she is the only one in the monogramme blue colour, I am sure someone will correct me if this isn't the case.

I am the only owner of this car, and I really do not want to sell it, but needs must, when the devil f*rts in your face.

All I am looking for is 6,900.00 which is about the going rate. I can email serious buyers with images if required. PM for details

Sorry to see you selling. I dare say that a lot of us are hoping that we don't get into a similar position.

£6900 seems like a good price to me, I paid a fair bit more for mine (albeit with lower mileage).

Good luck with the sale!

ColinE

Self employed, lack of work, recession, lack of money - that'll do for starters

I'm not sure but after doing this years finances with SWMBO I was told the car has to go and be replaced with something more economical.
I am fighting bloody hard against :fight2this and fully intend to keep the car, we will see what happens.

Self employed, lack odf work, recession, lack of money - that'll do for starters Oh yeah, that would do it :o

I guess I'm lucky that mine is my car, my only car and I don't have to use it for business. Mind you, the amount of petrol I could get for the cost of my season ticket would get me a long way...

I guess if she wasn't still at Peter Wayte's with ever increasing bill I'd be happier - hopefully I'll get her back at the weekend and the silly grin will be back

Well, I haven't earnt anything since the end of November...though I have built myself a nice kitchen! I did have to think very carefully about taxing her and keeping her on the road....but she stays...either on the road or off....

I understand your pain though Calvin....good luck with your sale..

I know the feeling. The problem is I need the capital to convert the garage into an office and then fund taking on a new person. I need to grow the business and at the moment I need the money elsewhere. :(

I'll get a ZTT/75 tourer CDTi, but the 260 will always be in my heart.

My heart bought the 260, although my head told me at the time this day would come, I was just hoping things would work out a bit better and I'd have more money coming in - sadly with the way things are, that hasn't happened.

Again, the curse of being self employed and not having a nice (big) regular income.

Ditto, I hope things work out for everybody who are struggling at the moment. Needs must I guess but the number of people who regret selling and buy again is fairly high.

Have to say having just moved house I find myself pondering whether the money tied up in the V8 and the running costs might not be better spent elsewhere.

I'll sell my 205 GTI before I sell the V8 though, so I've got a bit of breathing space yet!

I'll have to consider should the government change, as my office seems to be at the top of most people's hit list.

Nah, bollocks, my brother and sister both work for DWP, so if I can't get as many benefits as are possibly available then I'll be very disappointed. There is a winter fuel allowance isn't there? I'll take mine in petrol please Mr Darling...

If there's an age limit on ownership, please advise. I will then purchase a nice R 75 with integral pipe holder and slipper shelf !!

Do you have to be old to get winter fuel allowance then? I'd have thought that if you were getting everything else then they'd probably give you that too!

67 indeed - cheeky git!

Look you lot, I may look as though I'm 67 and act as if I've got dementia, but I'm actually a very sprightly late 40-something :D

I'm getting a little depressed, so I'm going to visit my friend Stella :diz

If he's married to a pensioner his winter fuel allowance would be £125.

That's about 500 miles in 260-speak. Big deal, eh?

(He could always add in his £10 Christmas "bonus")
