Hello

I have the chance of buying an 03 260 with 26,000 miles on the clock and wondered if you know of any specialist brokers for best insurance quotations. I will only do about 2,000 miles a year

Thanks
Andy

Try Peter Best

http://www.peterbestinsurance.co.uk/

Worth shopping around though as Peter Best can depend on who you talk to and whether car is to be garaged/postcode etc

I always did quite well with Peart.

Lots of insurers declined the 260 but they covered it for what I thought was quite a fair price and didn't require any sort of tracker.

For my first 260 I went with Lancaster
When I bought my current car Lancaster would no cover the Supercharger
I went to PB and their quote was less than my standard 260 had cost me with Lancaster three years ago!

I paid £295 last year

Peter Best do an agreed value classic insurance for MGs that are three years old or older. You need to be a member of the MGOC and have a regular everyday car as well as your 260.Speak to Matthew Best for best results.

If you are young or have a 'bad' postcode try Admiral/elephant. A few of us toddlers have to use them as no one else will offer a sensible quote :)

Who are the best for everyday use. When I buy my 260 it will be my everyday (and only) car covering 10-12k a year. I'm 32 with clean license and 10 years no claims but the best I've been quoted so far is a little under £600!!!

Elephnat were fine until renewal came through with a 50% hike in premium as a result of a claim when a woman reversed into my car at Tesco - even though not my fault and other party's insurers paid out.

Their answer to why was 'well you've had one accident, statistically you are more likely to have another'

I've just shopped around again as I'm doing about 13,000 a year & need business use too. Still Peter Best at £484 (the rest were £600+). I'm over 40 :(. It is a "classic" policy though, so watch out if you think you're gonna need a valid NCB in future....

interesting that PB worked out best again for you.

I'm with them and have business use on mine as well. Renewal not for a couple of months though.

Hi all,

I`ve got 164, I`m with LV and first used them in `92 when they were Frizzell. I`m 51 (but still drink Vimto), full no claims on a protected policy and pay £383 pa. All they insisted on was a tracker for the car, it`s kept in a locked garden with cctv coverage but that didn`t get me a discount.

My policy is what was a "group" one which allowed me to have several cars on the one so I had a quote on that policy first and nearly fell of my zimmer when I heard £2,000!!! The call centre guy said they were trying to encourage group policy owner to do it a different way.

They encouraged me. I took out a seperate policy.

Cheers.

I seem to swap between Adrian Flux and Privilege, playing one against the other to bring down quotes. Both have been good following a claim (althought this was 12 and 13 years ago.

Also watch out - last time I tried Peter best they would not quote for modified cars - remembering modified means lots of things including

Different tyre sizes
Accufab throttle body
Performance air filters
Different wheels
Superchargers!
Stainless exhausts (including Xpowers and Zeros - both are non standard!)
