Hi All

I'm needing to raise some cash and wondered what my treasured 260 SE would be worth?

She's an 04 plate 260SE with the Safety pack and zenon headlights. British Racing Green.

She has Cream Leather interior (Special edition)

I've kept her garaged and she's never been driven in the wet. I generally just get her out to clean her and take her on the odd 'joy' ride.

I've had her since new, she's immaculate and has covered under 4000 miles.

Anybody interested just drop me a line.

i would put it in the high 12k, and i think it would be worth every penny. given what some dealers are asking for higher mileage cars you could even try 15, but doubt it would sell.

Wish that had been around when I was looking - doubt I'd have been able to afford it though - stunning car

My guess would be in line with Peter valuation but as I say it is a guess!

Thanks Guys, that's really reassuring.

Yep, she's just like brand new and she means a lot to me.

I've kept her so nice that it's stopped me using her. I just don't want to get her dirty!

I think being realistic and given that I could do with a cash injection I'd be happy with £12k to a good home.

She's so unique she's hard to price. There can't be many still around in the same condition.

Where do you reckon it'd be best to advertise her? She's quite specialist.

PS. She's even got a full alloy wheel in the boot as a spare 'cos I don't like relying on those repair spray cans!

I'd start with Pistonheads

i would start with this forum and other mg and rover forums, if nothing comes of that, then the likes of piston heads, autotrader etc, but if your not in a rush to sell then definitely hold out for the best price.

Put it here first Andrew. Don't cost you anything and I know there are a few on here looking to buy. Plus the same advert in the 75&ZT club.

sorry to see you having to sell, she's a beauty!

I would advertise it on here (and in the General View section) as well as 75&ZT Club and Pistonheads.

Good luck

Am I alone in thinking these car are desperately undervalued for what they are?

Well I agree with you for a start. However they must bottom out as their special character and rarity become more acknowledged. Then they may start to appreciate. A good one will be worth a few bob in twenty years time. Don't you reckon?

What a cracker the green one is! Wish I could afford to buy it and keep it like it is now.

And to think mine's outside in the snow...

Absolutely agree
What Willow has their is prime trader fodder and given the chance they will jump at the chance of taking it off you for £8-9k then forecourting at up to double so keep your nerve and wait until someone is willing to pay you similar to what a trader would ask for it.

Now is probably not the time to sell though wait for the spring or advertise on some of the sites used by the city boys as there are still plenty of people getting silly bonuses out there that might be after a rarity!

Am I alone in thinking these car are desperately undervalued for what they are. This 260 has just 4000 miles one owner this is a future collectors car and if it was mine I would want at least £15000.Even at that price the car will only appreciate in value in the years to come.
I will now step down from my soap box.
cheers all Dave.

look what happened to the SD1 V8 including the Vitesse's

but yes, they do seem to be getting cheaper and cheaper. So much car for little money, and this is a cracker!

All this talk about prices and the "trade" needs to be put into perspective. Last time I looked, Glass's guide shows a trade price for this car of only around £5275. Now realistically, I think we all know this car is worth more than that. I've just sold a very nice Monogram ZT 260SE for just under £10000, but I also paid well over trade price too. Often the sale price and the real worth will differ depending on supply and demand. These cars are limited and as time goes by real nice low mileage ones will become much rarer. However, if someone needs to sell and there aren't any-or many buyers, then don't expect too much! I agree, this car should be worth every penny of £15000, but it isn't! If it was, then wouldn't it have sold by now? The market is tough and in those climates, then it depends on how desperate the seller is-if they can wait, then why sell? I'd still buy at over trade price though-but not that much over!!

well said John, I've been watching the "bibles" pricing for a while now.

It's sad, but true.

You're so right John. It's all down to market forces. A car is only ever worth what someone will pay for it.

I think I'll take the view that if someone offers me £12k+ for her then I'll sell. If not, I'll keep her.

Lerts' hope for a few more nice dry days so i can get her out and enjoy!
